A day in the delta

Posted by AJ Huffman |

In spite of the high gas prices we took a trip to Pine Bluff to visit the Delta Rivers Nature Center. It was a neat little place to visit, we all had a great time.

There was a mini museum there with several stuffed animals and several live animals including a variety of fish, snakes, and birds. Drew was running all over the place trying to take it all in. He learned about all the different animals that live in the delta region as well as what makes up the Arkansas delta.

There was a pond out front where you could feed the fish. Drew had a time throwing the food to them and watching them come up to the top and eat. There was also a nature trail to walk. When we started on our trek we saw a momma and a baby deer. We stopped and watched them for what seemed like forever, but it really was only ten minutes or so. At the end of the trail we thought we saw another deer. It was out in the thick of the woods and it wasn't moving at all. After a few minutes of trying to get the deer to move we figured out it just a decoy. We felt pretty silly jumping up and down hollering trying to make it move.
